Vigilant

“Keep vigilant watch over your heart; that’s where life starts. Don’t talk out of both sides of your mouth; avoid careless banter, white lies, and gossip. Keep your eyes straight ahead; ignore all sideshow distractions. Watch your step, and the road will stretch out smooth before you. Look neither right nor left; leave evil in the dust.”
Proverbs 4:23-27 MSG

Vigilant: keeping careful watch for possible danger or difficulties

That word sticks out on this Monday morning as I'm running late. The car didn't start, I ran out of time, missed my quiet time and coffee. Little difficulties I didn't take heed of, things I could have avoided if I'd looked ahead better.

True in the little things and true in the big matters too. Our heart is the real us. We are reminded to be vigilant with our hearts. Be on the watch for possible danger or difficulties. Keep clear of the things that trip us up or slow us down.

What's on your radar? Are you keeping an eye out for snares or coasting through life hoping for the best?

As we go into the reality of this new year, stay alert and focused on what God's got in store for you. Keep your eyes on his path. Take each next step determined to walk with him.

Blessings today and always! –M
